Our child care facilities

Ages 6 weeks to 16 months
(Ratio is 1 educator : 4 children)

The education and care in our Wombat Room is based on the nurturing and ever changing needs of the young babies and toddlers in our care. The area is always full of meaningful toys, sensory exploration, books, building, cognitive development and activity frames to support walking. We support each child’s early developmental learning stage of unoccupied and solitary play giving all the opportunities to engage in interest-based activities. These early stages of play set the foundations to support their development of onlooker and parallel play.

Our dedicated indoor and outdoor settings are free for our Wombats to lay, roll, crawl, walk, play and explore without worry. Educators are experienced mums and Educators who have been in Early childhood for many years and treat each and every child like they were their own. Our curriculum links to the developmental milestones and we place emphasis on supporting these milestones through children’s interests, inquiry, curiosity and play. Visuals and basic sign language are used to support and develop their non-verbal and verbal communication skills.

All meals are supplied for our Wombats including a range of freshly made mashed vegetables as well as a variety of textures, flavours and tastes to develop their young pallets and introduce solid foods. Sleep routines are specific to each child and are supported by information provided by Red Nose, Blissful babies and government regulations to ensure the highest of standards are maintained and safety is paramount. We follow Safe Sleep practices and have relevant information and support available for all families.

Ages 12 months to 2 years
(Ratio is 1 educator : 4 children)

Our dedicated young toddler room is a space where our Possums can begin to really explore their environment and sense belonging within their world. The skilled and experienced educators focus on their developing needs, building on their exploration and skill of fine and gross motor. Children are supported with their engagement of social skills as they make their discoveries through solitary play into onlooker play.

Possum Room children start learning self-help techniques as well as awareness and expression of the needs of themselves and others. The dedicated indoor learning environment encourages curiosity with a large, open plan space to explore. There is an abundance of choices and opportunities to learn though play and explore both spontaneous activities and intentional teaching experiences to develop childrens skills.

Music and movement are a large focus within the Possum room for enjoyment, to support learning, assist in transitions and create a friendly, positive environment. Visuals and basic sign language are used to support and develop their non-verbal and verbal communication skills.

Our skilled educators listen carefully to the children’s needs and develop a daily routine that supports their growing and changing needs. Our sleeping facilities ensure each child has their own cot to rest in for their nap and are continually monitored throughout the entire day.

A typical day always includes a range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as a wide range of foods and cultures to support their nutrition. Ages 2 to 3 years

Our creative and supportive Bilby room is a place where children grow not only physically, but socially and emotionally. Our experienced team of Educators continue to build on each child’s perception of self through positively guiding social interactions and develop their awareness of sharing and communication. The curriculum focuses on the children’s developing ability to move from onlooker play into parallel and associative play, creating many opportunities for learning through. Our Bilby children begin to interact in short group times developing their listening skills and engagement for short periods of time. These fundamental skills are vital to support them in their early learning and interactions as they learn more about themselves.

With many of the children in the Bilby room beginning to develop more independent skills, we encourage and support them to begin to care for their belongings and attempt to have a go at tasks and creations for themselves. Toilet training may begin within the Bilby room and our skilled educators work hand in hand with families to support this developing skill in a kind, nurturing and safe environment.

Ages 3 to 3 ½ years

In our Emu room the children are supported in exploring their growing sense of identity. The dedicated indoor learning environment has endless opportunities to learn, engage and safely challenge their developing skills. Our talented educators implement the foundations of our Pre School program and begin to explore early literacy and numeracy with the Emu children. The children are supported in their development with extended group times where they are encouraged to use their imagination and develop their talking and listening skills.

As the children begging to develop their associative play skills, they begin to engage with their peers more. Educators and families come together to support the children develop communication skills, language development and problem solving. Visuals and basic sign language are used to support and develop their non-verbal and verbal communication skills.

Our Outdoor learning environment provides the Emu children with opportunities to explore their natural environment in our vegetable garden, having the opportunity to care for plants as well as taste the fruits and vegetables grown. The children and Educators support sustainable practice by visiting the garden and caring for our resident chicken.

Ages 3 ½ to 6 years

Our children in the Wallaby and Joey Preschool Rooms are involved in a Preschool and School Readiness Program to assist in making their transition to school smooth and less daunting. Our programs are delivered by experienced Educators who are university qualified in Early Childhood Education and Care as well as our Primary school qualified Director. We focus upon not only early literacy and numeracy concepts in preparation for school, but also on social readiness including communication, turn taking and sharing. Visuals and basic sign language are used to support and develop their non-verbal and verbal communication skills.

As our Preschool children develop from associated play skills toward cooperative play where they have a deeper interest in what and who they are playing with, the children are given greater responsibility for their play experiences and learning as well as their belongings. Our Wallabies and Joey’s are offered opportunities to engage in longer structured group times as well as learning projects based on their needs and interests that come up in the room. In conjunction with families, our Educators strive to provide an environment where children feel safe, can grow and work toward their own individual goals while continuing to build their self esteem, confidence and social skills.

Our dedicated indoor Preschool learning environment has a large open space that is frequently altered to engage children in their learning and play. We have available dedicated art area, as well as home corner, role play puppet theatre, relaxation quiet zone with books and School Readiness area. Our large and spacious outdoor learning environment is perfect for enjoying physical development and also includes an art area, space for bikes and a large sandpit for exploration.

A typical day always includes a range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as a wide range of foods and cultures to support their nutrition. Rest times are provided for our Preschool children and are supported by Red Nose and government regulations to ensure the very active minds and bodies of our Preschool children are having some rest throughout their day.
